July 2018 – Ballynahone ewe is reserve at Royal Welsh Show

Finishing up the show season in style at the Royal Welsh Show, the flock took reserve championship honours with aged ewe HBR1600780.

This Duncryne Uber Cool daughter is out of a dam by Springhill Silverstone. She was purchased from Richard Henderson for 5000gns at the Northern Stars sale last December.

She has enjoyed a successful season, having been first in her class at the Royal Highland and breed champion at the Great Yorkshire where she was also reserve champion in the terminal sire breeds championship.

Further success came in the gimmer class, with PFD1701660 taking second in this class. She is by the 70,000gns Teiglum Young Gun and out of a dam by Haddo Ringleader.

And in the ram lambs PFD1802476 also stood second, with this lamb being by the homebred Procters Abracadabra and out of a dam by Glenside Whiskey Galore.

Then taking fourth place in the ewe lambs was PFD1802350, a Strawfrank Alphonso daughter out of a ewe by Anglezarke Uno, with this lamb having previously been second at the Royal Highland earlier in the summer.

The Texel Society’s YDP young handlers competition was also successful for the team with Katie taking first place and Robbie second in a hotly contested class of youngsters.
